Canine Good Citizen (CGC) & Canine Life And Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S) k9- BA
About the Canine Good Citizen Program
The Canine Good Citizen Program (CGC) is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. It is a two-part program (10-step test) that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog. Dogs who have solid obedience education are a joy to live with- they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and high quality of life.
The Canine Good Citizen program can help is assure that the dogs we love will always be welcomed and well-respected members of our communities. The Canine Good Citizen is a first step to other training as well. If you would like to become a therapy dog team, the AKC CGC is often prerequisite to certification.
